Here we have a beautiful and fully functional Olympus 35 IV b. This camera is fully functional (shutter speeds below 1/10th are slightly sluggish) and ready to produce another lifetime of fantastic photos.

All aspects of this camera work as they should. The lens is in excellent condition, with glass elements free of fungus, scratches, and separation. There is extremely minor haze but the camera has been CLAd and the lens cleaned. It is in great shape. The leaf shutter blades actuate beautifully and are unmarred. The aperture blades are in beautiful condition.

The focus ring spins beautifully, and the aperture ring spins similarly with mechanical precision.

The viewfinder is clear and clean. All levers, dials, switches, and buttons work as they should. The film compartment is clean and clear, and the sprockets and spools are all excellent.

Released in 1948, the Olympus 35 I was the first 35mm camera sold in the Japanese market. Olympus developed the camera to meet two key requirements. First, it had to be compact and light. Second, it had to support rapid shooting. The speed with which users could wind the film, charge (the shutter) and push the shutter earned the 35I the nickname "pickpocket camera" because it took pictures as quickly as pickpockets took valuables from their victims. This capacity for rapid shooting made the Olympus 35I extremely popular. When it first went on sale, it was designed for a 24x32mm image size. This was subsequently modified to the present 24x36mm size, which is suitable for slide mounting. The Olympus 35 I was priced at 10,600 JPY. The series continued to evolve, culminating in the Olympus 35V.

The Olympus 35 IVb was first released in 1955. It improved on the original by offering a faster shutter speed of 1/300th of a second. The lens is a 40mm f/3.5 coated Olympus Zuiko.
